Long-time Port attorney, Gordon Walgren Dies at 85

It is with great sadness that we report that long-time Port attorney, Gordon Walgren, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, peacefully in his home. He began his tenure in the port industry in 1989, spending almost 30 years of his career as legal counsel and lobbyist for the Port.

Gordon Walgren, long-time attorney for the Port of Bremerton passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, peacefully in his home in Bremerton.  Gordon held many positions over his career starting as a young attorney, which led to Prosecuting attorney in Kitsap County.  Gordon furthered his political career in Olympia serving as a State Senator and eventually Speaker of the House.

Gordon began his tenure in the port industry in 1989, spending the last almost 30 years as legal counsel and lobbyist for the Port of Bremerton.  Over his long career, he received many awards for his work, including most recently, the Washington Public Ports Association’s Outstanding Service to the Industry Award.  Larry Stokes, Port of Bremerton Commissioner and President, stated, “The best decision I ever made as a Port Commissioner was to agree with my fellow Commissioners and hire Gordon as our Port attorney and lobbyist.

A memorial service is planned for April 8 at the Kitsap Golf and Country Club in Bremerton from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
