Bremerton National Airport seeks Airport Manager  (January 2024)

The Port of Bremerton is an essential force in Kitsap County by creating opportunities for small businesses to thrive, particularly around the airport.  Our efforts to expand employment opportunities, create recreational spaces and make targeted investments in infrastructure in our community and other key successes, earned us the 2023 Port of the Year by the Washington State Ports Association.  We are on a roll!  and we value the collegial team effort that earned us this designation.  As the largest national airport on the Kitsap Peninsula, continued expansion is our goal and you can make a significant contribution to our success. 

We need your airport experience and strategic thinking to keep us at the top of our game and help us pursue grant funding, airport improvements, and continued staff development. You will also be responsible for bringing the airport perspective to the leadership team, planning and budgeting for the airport and its future, working with a group of highly trained maintenance professionals, developing and maintaining tenant relationships, advocating for the airport in a variety of community and government groups and staying abreast of safety, requirements and all matters necessary to run a top notch airport.

Successful candidates have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Airport Management, or similar field coupled with significant experience in airport administration, operations, and maintenance. Accreditation through the American Association of Airport Executives is desired. Knowledge in municipal government is a plus. A record of progressive responsibilities in airport operations and facility maintenance and infrastructure development. Successful supervision of maintenance work crew and demonstrated leadership abilities. 

Knowledge and application of modern engineering design, systems, methods, practices, and equipment utilized in construction, maintenance, and design, and of sound airport management and administration.  Excellent written and verbal communications skills across all levels of employees and the public essential for this position. Approach to all areas of work with the highest ethics, good judgment and confidentiality essential.
