The Kitsap SEED Project - Sustainable Energy and Economic Development
Port Commission Moves Kitsap SEED Project to Next Stage

The Bremerton Port Commission, during the week of February 25, 2008 made a series of decisions that move the Kitsap SEED project on to its next stage. The staff has been directed to undertake, in close consultation with the Commission, several due diligence tasks. They are:
  1. Review of all project contracts
  2. Third-party review of the business incubator business plan
  3. Third-party review of the project’s financing plans
  4. Establish partnerships with research institutions
  5. Review development opportunities in the South Kitsap Industrial Area with regional developers

Additionally the Commission tasked the Commission President Cheryl Kincer and Port CEO Ken Attebery to review existing consultant contracts and grant contracts, funds from which are now being used on design and initial construction of the project to determine which work should continue to conclusion and where cost savings could be realized.

The project program and building plans are nearing completion. Major funding requests due in early 2008 have been submitted. Port staff will continue to work at the local, state and federal level to gain funds for the project.

The conclusions of these efforts will be reported back to the full Commission as they are completed.
