PORT OF BREMERTON PASSES RESOLUTION SUPPORTING KITSAP TRANSIT'S PASSENGER-ONLY FERRY INVESTMENT PLAN

(Port Orchard) - The Port of Bremerton Commissioners passed a resolution at their January 9, 2007 meeting in support of Kitsap Transit�s Passenger-Only Ferry Investment Plan.

The resolution states in part that �Attracting new businesses and family wage jobs so important to the economic vitality of Kitsap County will be furthered by the multiple economic development benefits of an expanded, frequent, and rapid passenger ferry service to and from Kitsap.�

Mary Ann Huntington, Port Commission President stated that �passage of this ballot issue would open a transportation alternative that will greatly assist the Port in fulfilling its mission of promoting business and capital investment to create economic development in Kitsap County and the region.� Commissioner Cheryl Kincer agreed stating that �passage of this ballot issue would be good for the area constituents.�

The mission of the Port of Bremerton is to develop and promote business, industrial, maritime and aviation facilities and services for the purpose of inducing capital investment and employment opportunities through new and expanding businesses within the Port District. Commissioner Bill Mahan noted that �good transportation alternatives are quality of life issues important to business owners.�

The Port owns and operates the Olympic View Business and Industrial Park and Bremerton National Airport, located on Highway 3 in South Kitsap.
